Hey Northwest guys and gals. Calling all Ford powered cars! This is additional information regarding the Spokane Festival of Speed. Are you up for a road trip and a bunch of fun? The Festival of Speed in Spokane is having a SOVREN Vintage race weekend June 3-6. The feature cars are FORD POWERED. They are trying to get as many cars as possible to show. There is a bunch of fun stuff going on including the following:

Allen Grant, former Shelby race car driver will be in attendance. There are plans to have him speak about the old days and sign autographs and such. We will also have another extraordinary guest. Karen Salvaggio is a notable race driver and has been very involved with Cobras, Daytona Coupes, SEMA, Hotrod TV, 25 Hours of Thunderhill, NASA, and too many other things to list. (Many of you have met Karen at other Cobra related gathering).

Track Day

There will be a Test and Tune for race cars Friday the 3rd as well as a Track Day for street cars including all eligible Cobras, Coupes, GT40's, and other street cars that want to join. Here is your chance to join in the fun and run your car on a great track. Its free to watch, just show up. The track day price is $210.00 which includes lunch.

Car Corral

For those of you that don't care to do the track event, there is a Car Corral. The festival is being very generous and are allowing our Cobra related people to join the Corral for free (a $25.00 value). They also are providing $5.00 discount tickets to the races for our group. The corral is inside the pit area on pavement adjacent to the race cars. Great place to park and view the races the race cars and talk to the drivers.

Friday Vintage in the Park

There will be a car show in downtown Spokane at Riverfront Park Friday night after the test and tune. Race cars, Car Corral Cars, and featured cars will drive in caravan from the track to Riverfront Park. We will be parked in designated spots as part of the show. This show will become the centerpiece of downtown Spokane's First Friday celebration. There will be a host of activities for participants. Early in the evening (before dark) the Race Car Tour will return to the track. The trip to the park and back is about 16 miles. There is also a free shuttle bus provided by Northwest Quest Resort (Casino) for those wishing to attend the Riverfront activities but who want to leave their car at the track. There is no charge for the shuttle.

Saturday night party.

The Saturday Night Race party will be held at Northern Quest Resort adjacent to the track. The party is for test and tuners, racers, crews, families, friends, volunteers, the press, car corral participants and others. Dinner tickets for the party are $25.00 ea.

Special Guest get-together

Mr. Grant and Ms. Salvaggio's schedule is not yet finalized. Tentative plans include availability for conversation and autographs at the park, the races, and the Saturday night party.

This is a great event. There will be two days of racing with some of the coolest vintage race cars in the northwest. Tony, Karen, and I will be running in the "big bore" group with our Challenge cars. It's always fun to run with the old cars that we grew up with. Old Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaros, Jags, Porches, etc. Come over and cheer us on! We would love to have a huge turnout of "Ford Powered" cars.

I can provide entry forms, maps, and more info if you're interested. Email me Nadalin@prodigy.net . The host hotel is Ramada Inn, Spokane Airport. 512-289-4122. Tell them you are with the SOVREN group. Price should $79.00 with breakfast. There are also a bunch of other hotels very close to the track.

I look forward to hearing from you all.
