I've been trying hard to stay out of this banter, but if a certain car (let's say 'vette, Cobra, 911, whatever) is worth $50K in the real world and typical examples are advertised frequently for $60K+ and can be negotiated down to $50-52K to make the buyer happy that doesn't mean the same car that is found advertised at $50K can be negotiated to $40K for a "real" seller and buyer. Perhaps the car advertised at $50K is offered by a REAL seller, and he's sick of the B.S. price inflations and lists his car to sell. I wish people wouldn't be so set on playing the games. If you find a nice car that you want for a fair price - buy it. Don't feel like you are getting screwed if you can't negotiate a cheaper price, when the asking price is already substantially lower than the competition. Not every seller lists his car for 10-15% over what they will accept.
