And for whatever it's worth, I paid the full asking price ($45k) for mine. I thought the price was very fair considering what the car is, what spares it came with, the thorough documentation, and the care that it received by the PO. The PO clearly took a financial beating, I saw no good to beat him any further. Besides, it's the exact car that I had "built" in my mind as a kid, right down to the color scheme. And, it was only a few miles from my house, so no transportation costs. I probably could have negotiated hard and got it for a few thousand less, but I'm not in this for the money aspect, I'm in it for fun. If I was a flipper, that would have changed the game.
