As far as I know, no original chassis numbers were stamped into engine blocks. The registry doesn't list the block as a location of the chassis number and the chassis number was assigned by AC Cars prior to the engine installation. Early chassis (up to approx 2170) didn't have chassis number tags. Subsequent chassis had an aluminum tag attached to the footbox with the chassis number stamped at AC Cars. The tag also contained the engine number, assigned at Shelby America when the engine was installed and was stamped by SA.
I'm not sure if the 3XXX series chassis were done the same way or not. I don't study the coil spring cars much.
