Ben, I used the Bunnings stuff in my boot. It is pretty flexible to work with and looks ok methinks.

Carpet in the cabin was a pro job though. Mercedes carpet. One things - it is HEAPS easier to clean and vacuum than the boot. The boot stuff is more 'loopy' I think, capturing the little bits so they're stubborn to vacuum up. There are more 'cut pile' style or 'velour' looking finisheds that would probably be better in this regard, but then don't look quite as nice IMHO.

Anyway, the Bunnings stuff is heaps cheap, so buy a few pieces and play.
