Bill,
I can't give you a simple answer, but perhaps this will help. ... I faced a similar problem with a non-Cobra. One of the options I considered was a drop base, spun aluminum air cleaner similar to this:


The major considerations are:
  1. The lid has to drop down enough to clear the hood.
  2. The base has to drop down enough to allow a good size air filter element between it and the lid.
  3. The base has to fit around the throttle linkage and other stuff near the carburetor. As Bruce said, you may need to reshape the aluminum base to fit.
  4. The gap between the top of the carburetor and the underside of the lid has to be large enough to allow all that air flowing through the filter to make the turn into the throat of the carburetor.
