Original equipment was body color. Owners have customized cars by removing the vanes, to painting them various colors besides body color, and even removed all paint and polished them for decades.

When introduced mid CSX21xx range the vanes were welded in. Late in the CSX21xx range AC Cars changed to a removable assemblies design attached with little chrome plated brass machine screws, lock washers, and bare steel plain hex nuts. There was no choice but to paint the integrally welded in vanes as the body was painted. The very few nearly unmolested cars left indicate that even the removable assemblies were painted as the bodies were painted; with just over spray on the engine bay side.
