Happy to report that this new engine is tight powerful and reliable after 3000 miles: I used a super victor intake topped by a Holley 750 XP, jetted 74/80 running an Msd 85840 and 6al box. Max timing 34* initial 18*.
Took a bit for the rings to seat but there's vacuum at idle now and no
oil eating. It dyno'd right on the money with just over 450hp at the wheels which assuming a 15% driveline loss puts it at right about 535 ish at the crank.
I like the 4 bolt mains and cleaveland sized main bearings, all in all a nice package for 10k to the door.
In comparison my CHP motor was shall we say less than sorted.
