I remember hearing that with some of those vintage aluminum engine parts, the decks were thin, can't remember whether they were the heads or the block. Also, I believe the early blocks were only ?4.05 bore (390 ci, not the 4.23 bore. as I think technology wouldn;t allow that big of a bore at that time)
