I hope I spell this name correctly, Sean Highland wrote a book on the Ford 4.6 ltr Modular engine. I believe the way they were able to extend to higher rpm was to go down to 0-5W full
synthetic oil. The problem being the hydraulic lifters were pumping up. The thinner
oil allows them to bleed off more quickly.
I put a 20-50W
oil in a big block Chrysler once back in my puppy days. That was the only time I ever had valve float. I went back to 10-40W.
