I checked the bowl screws last night and they are straight and the head is square to the screw and the mating surfaces are clean and unmarred. However, I did notice that across the screw heads there seemed to be a VERY slight variance in thickness and confirmed this with a caliper. Not sure if it's enough to cause the leak, but since the nylon gaskets don't have any give, it might be. I am going to replace the bowl screws and see if that solves it before switching to paper gaskets.
