If the fuel tank vent hose is not connected, ut us very difficult to fill the car up with gas because it will bubble back up wih the escaping air. That is if the tank has no vent, or it is capped off. If it is left open, gas will spill out and dirt and water can get inm, assuming it has a ffitting for the vent tube, of course.
