I was wondering about the weight distribution on the Cobra I am looking at. So I searched here and found that it appears most folks are close to 50/50. Some seem to like 51/49 nose heavy slightly.

I was looking at folks engine placement. Some look tight to the firewall others more forward. So i decided to calculate how much moving the motor back or forward.

Making my best estimate (with the tremec 6 speed and an alloy sbc a total of about 620#) of motor and transmission weight and placement I discovered that moving the engine 4" toward the front is a change from 49/51 to 50/50 distribution. Basically it takes about 20# off the back and adds it to the front. Weight includes a 200# driver and a full tank of gas...bout 20 gal.

I would have guessed it would have affected it more.

I'm not sure I could tell the difference.

When I go to look at it later this month I am going to try to get it on a scale.
