I did the simplest and easiest thing to do.

I just picked up the carpet, placed it in the trunk or behind the seat, and had the exposed fiberglass to rest my feet on.

When I stopped, you place the carpet back, and your car looks perfect.

No cost, no Gerry-rigging, no screws or other things pushed thru your floor, of course this works like magic if you have an original car, or if your mats also use snaps to secure them.
