Default disappearing oil

I purchased my 428 already assembled. The guy used it for grag racing only. I have put about 1000 miles on it on the street and loose about a quart of oil every 100 miles. No leaks and no black smoke.
I think I found the answer. Stock FE heads have a sheetmetal baffel and an "umbrella" type shield on the valves to keep oil away from the valve seals.
I have Edlebrock alumunum heads with no baffel and the same umbrella. The umbrella slides up the valve kind of like a womans skirt does when she jumps up and down a lot.
I think the oil was flooding the valves and oil was being sucked into the chamber kind of like... well never mind.
I removed the valve springs and installed a tefflon type shied over each valve that stays on the head and doesn't allow any oil to pass by.
Drove my first 100 miles today and still have a full oil pan!
This may be common knowledgd to most of you engine builders, but new to me. Hope this info helps somebody.
