The 2017 FGT story goes like this. Someone #1 sold their car to someone else #2. #2 put the car up for auction at another recent Mecum auction where it garnered 1.85M. The buyer is apparently a dealer that is auctioning it again. Ford wanted to go after #2 but a judge told them that #2 didn't sign the contract and that Ford's beef was with #1. That one is still in limbo... Several others I know of have sold theirs with methods that preserve the original legal requirement (one way would be a lien for $1, or anything that leaves the original owner on the title). Essentially Ford's buyback has so many loopholes that noone appears to be concerned about it.
