It appears that all is well now, but time will tell.
Turns out that I was looking right at the problem all along without realizing it! Even with the water temp below boiling, running aprox 180 f, water/steam was being discharged thru the o'flow hose. Got out my long forgotten pressure test kit and found the cap would hold no pressure, also tested block/radiator, it held pressure,no internal leaks.
New cap (13#) and thermostat installed, test drive was good with the temp staying just under 180 Deg, with no fan running.
Still need to find a recovery can that will fit in the limited space available fwd of the eng.
