Ronald, it's a car, a simple but unique car.
It becomes a hobby, and learning about this hobby will require a degree of hands on work when things loosen up, or just quit! Eschaider is correct.
To enjoy these things you have to drive them. The good news is a good mechanic is all you need. The better news is you don't have a lot of extra's to worry about, i.e. ( power steering, power brakes, air conditioning) which means those and all of the associated things with them you don't need to know or deal with. Welcome to the madness.
