No idea how this happened, but the #5 spark plug had blown out of the head and was attached to the plug wire. Obviously, I had not screwed the plug in properly but fortunately, the threads in the head are fine as are the plug threads. The plug would not turn in the wire boot, so it couold not have spun itself out. How this could have lasted about 1000 miles since I'd installed the plugs. Friggggggin Weird! At least it was a cheap fix. The little engine is running fine, again.

I had the same happen to me a few years ago, pulled out one plug for a look, at 30 miles later, pop, pop, pop etc.
Oh my god, there's a rod out,
oil pressure ok, limp along at 1500, pull up, found plug on the chassis rail. Happy when I found that.
