Another thought that you may consider. I never had any problem with my pan hitting while running hard but I had a steel skid plate made that mounts about an inch and a half in front of the pan and then curves under it. That way if something did hit it would hit the plate and not the pan. I did scrape the plate once when racing and then again when going over a huge speed bump at about 2 miles per hour but it saved the pan.
