I was going to try bypassing the MSD box with a separate electronic pickup in the distributor, and wire it directly to the coil. However, it appears the 8 pronged inductor(?) is a press fit on the Boss 302 distributor sonthats a no-go. The air gap between the inductor and the original pick up is .008” Beyond frustrated. Troubleshooting a simple ignition issue shouldn’t be this difficult
What spark QUALITY have we got here?

Set up the coil lead with a 1/2inch gap to ground. Crank the engine over with the fuel pumps off.
