Good question.

There was a recent post from a guy that wanted to add 300 HP to his current set up. He suggested a Coyote upgrade and was surprised that his suggestion wasn't enthusiastically received.

Face it, most Cobra owners are getting older (myself included); I'd guess the average age of owners on this forum is late 60's - just a guess. Most love big block FE's in their Cobra (not me) and there's no changing their minds.

But the future of this hobby/sport/asset class is in the tastes of younger generations, who, in my opinion, will love a Coyote in the timeless Cobra design.

I'd say that a "regular" BDR valuation should be somewhere between $45-$65k depending on age/wear/build quality, options.

I think that used Coyote's with transmissions can be bought from $5-$10k, new from $20-$22k(?). I don't think installation cost of engine should get added in to the purchase price valuation. I don't think that you get a premium for the Coyote...one could argue that given the lack of current demand, but could get a discount but I don't think that's fair/realistic/reasonable. I think that that equation changes if you plan to own it for a long time. If you plan to own for less than 5 years, resale could be a problem if you don't get a very good purchase price.

I think it fair to add that value to the value of the build of a "regular" car minus the drive train. So if the BDR had an all aluminum 427 that costs $25k vs a used 300 hp 289 that costs $10k, you have to do the math.
