The whole point of this is to NOT have a sacrificial anything! Why put a gear on that will wear in a couple of thousand miles, when you can have both a cam and distributor gear without wear at all?????

Did you read the post from jacobsed????

For crying out loud.
Hauss, why do you ask for guidance if you choose to discard what knowledgeable advisors provide you in response to your request for help?

Brent is providing you the straight story right off the stone tablets that came from, wherever. If you follow his lead, at least you will not expire your engine or its distributor gear out in the middle of Racoon Run, Somewhere with no way home.

Brent, Patrick is right. Free advice is one thing. Free parts is another. Good hearted generosity generally goes unrewarded, You've already given the most valuable component, knowledge (which normally comes at a significant price to acquire), there is no need to give free parts no matter the price.

Just my $0.02 ...
