With the coils, they may need to have an external igniter, but most modern coils have built in igniters. How many wires go into the coils? What is the part number of the coils? With that information I should be able to tell you if they need an external igniter or not.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the Motec question about coils is the newer technology to use individual cylinder coil packs instead of a single coil and distributor. You should be specific about your engine configuration.
