Default Check for deteriorated vacuum port caps

I pulled off a rubber vacuum port cap on my carb earlier today to connect my vacuum tester, and only about half the cap came off - it was dried out and tore easily. A second cap was the same and a third came off intact but, when I flexed it, I could see that it had small cracks and was starting to dry out. No indication any were leaking but two were well on their way to doing so. Now I know to check them now and then.
