It’s true that Beebe butted heads with Miles after Daytona and Sebring ‘66 because he felt he was pushing the car too hard, but by all accounts that was the extent of it and Beebe was not the villain he’s portrayed as. It is true that Henry Ford II was very unhappy with the ‘64 and ‘65 results, but Shelby American wasn’t involved in the 1964 campaign with the GT40 and in fact was brought in afterwards (with not enough time for proper development work for the 1965 Le Mans) to try and right the ship. Shelby did face pushback throughout from Ford, who also had cars campaigned by FAV and Holman-Moody among others. But I’m really not complaining; you can only make a script so complex before you start to lose audience interest and this isn’t a documentary.
