Default Rocket Sunburst wheels - Part Deux

Since my previous thread, where I was looking for more info about the Rocket Sunburst wheels to put on my scratch build independent rear suspension, I have been making making progress.

I now have most of the Rocket Sunburst wheel info I need and Alf02 (Tom) is helping me with more pics/info.

Each step, such as the selection of the Rocket Sunburst wheels, brings another challenge.

The spinners/faux knockoffs that Rocket sells to fit their wheels are nice, but won’t match the Trigo knockoffs I have on my car. So what to do?

Well, I have to figure out a way to adapt the Trigo spinners to the Rocket Sunburst wheels.

Now the Rocket Sunburst wheel is a bolt on wheel, not a pin drive/knockoff spinner tightened wheel like the original Shelby 427 Cobra Sunburst wheel.

So I’m going to use the Trigo hub and spinner machined/adapted to the Rocket Sunburst bolt on wheel.

When completed, the Trigo knockoff spinners will be “decorative” rather than functional.

The attached 8 pages of sketches/drawings describe how I will do it.

The modified Trigo spinner will tighten to a modified portion of the Trigo hub and pull the “threaded knockoff collar” (as I call it) into the “cone” shaped Rocket Sunburst wheel center bore and will be retained in place by tightening the spinner and for an added safety factor I will use Halibrand safety clips.

A complex or expensive solution? A little but not that bad.

As you know from my previous posts I have broad shoulders and thick skin so go at it with criticisms and suggestions. There are probably simpler or more elegant solutions to consider.

I’m not sure I can post 8 pics in one post but here goes.

Cheers
Greg
