Patrick,
I can empathize with you. Those are similar problems that I have to deal with when racing. This past weekend it was in the low 90's with high humidity and when I race I have to wear a three layer fire resistant suit, complete with gloves and helmet. By the time the session is over I am dehydrated, tired and attention is somewhat diminished. I have had calf cramps while on the track as well. When I had my ERA I had a momentary lapse of concentration as I ws in a hurry to move the car after brining it back home for a drive and touched my calf to the side pipes. It happens, and that quick singe does create some memory to remember to avoid it again. Keep safe.
