Take your time.

I think it is better to buy a finished running car. If you find one on this site and that person was a member on this site for a long time, you can filter on that persons posts. I did this and I was able to read from when the previous owner purchased my Cobra, until he was ready to sell it. Every problem he ever asked help for was here. When I talked to him, he told me the whole story and more than was on this site. At that point I knew I was dealing with a good man who was as honest as the day was long.

Then you can modify and update things as you desire. It allows you to learn more about these cars and learn what you like and don't like. Then if you want to build one, do it. It would be easier to build if you had a running one sitting beside it. When you get it finished, you can sell the first.
