Hi Cycleguy55, answering your laser question first, yes, I would definitely do it. It one job that even with limited knowledge and tools you can tackle yourself. A crap wiring job can make your car a PITA. It can be down right dangerous also.
I bought a book called "Automotive Wiring- A practical guide to wiring your hot rod or custom car"-by Dennis W. Parks. There are a number of similar books you could source also. As far as questions 1 & 2 go, I would contact any of the aftermarket specialist wiring harness manufacturers, they usually have very helpful customer service, tell them what you have and what you are planning, and they will advise you. They deal in this kind of thing every day. Good luck with your project.
