Default Coronado Trail 2020

What a weekend! 656 miles, many with my life flashing before my eyes. Specially when doing 80+ on that BUMPY Rte 78. My car has such stiff, lowered suspension, it was hard to control. I feared flying off the road. Too old for this. Hope the Coronado Trail people had better luck.
Started off with 16 cars and 22 people early Saturday morning in Apache Junction. Sure missed Dan and Adriana. Never did find out why they couldn’t make it. Tough to keep 16 cars together. Some new faces and cars. Lots of cobras. Phoenix Mike even came by to show us his new 918 Porcshe, Sweet. Mike says he is working on our charity for this year.

Next stop was Apache Gold Casino Station for normal pit stop, then the LONG, hot drive to Safford and pit stop number 2.
Karl took some of us on a high speed (100+) extra 20 mile trip to Duncan when he missed the Rte 191 turn off on 70 headed east. Another trip to Duncan with Karl! We must have an affinity for that place. We even brought a guest with us.

Lunch at Bear Wallow Café in Alpine. OK food and service. We caught them right before closing. That's a LONG drive to Alpine.

Short trip to Eager to the Best Western Sunrise Inn. Nice, reasonable place. Clean. All gathered for bench racing for several hours with booze and snacks. Then off to dinner.
Dinner at Safire Restaurant at big long table. No liquor there, surprise! Good thing Benny Stafford wasn't with us .

Left Eager EARLY headed to Show Low for gas stop then our group split up to go west and south. I couldn’t stay up again and waved at some cars in Payson but then drove on to Camp Verde to stop at my favorite place, the DQ.
I saw Karl’s license plate fly off about 10 miles out from Springerville while he was passing a car in front of me. Saw it fly up and out into the field to the north. Thought it was cardboard.
Trip home had us pass 2 different dead deer partially on the road on 260. I presume that wasn’t us.
Trip down I-17 was slow and crowded due to multiple car accident north of 169 turn off. Home at 12:30pm sharp.
Saw some fantastic cars. That Blown, black Mustang was interesting and that black Pantera was to die for, but a bit so loud. Lots of fun with great people. I guess now a days, I’m the oldest person among us. I wish I could have taken the cobra but age speaks to me. I even had leg cramps in the Mustang.
