Yes, my car is all together at this time but see if this helps. My transmission cover has some insulation under the carpet so getting a precise side to side dimension is a bit of a guess but the shifter seems to be coming out about 1/2 inch to the driver side down close to the carpet. When I cut the hole and mounted the shifter boot ring I just centered it on the console and with a toploader/Hurst I've had adequate clearance in all gears.

This is my toploader showing tail length and mount position relative to this. I think this is the mid-length tail housing - Not the Galaxie one and not the Sunbeam Tiger short one either (from memory).
