The body style dictates the engine.

For a slab side or FIA, you need a small block.

For a 427 SC, nothing but an FE, either 427 or 428.

For either one, get as much power as you can afford. You don’t want to get bored with it in a year and regret you didn’t get more. You can control the gas pedal to drive it like you want.
