Something to consider if you are thinking of using an automatic in a Cobra;

With manual transmissions if the rear end begins to come around on you it is easy to push in the clutch and get the car under control again — if it hasn't gone too far.

With an auto trans the equivalent of pushing in the clutch is putting the trans in neutral to disconnect the rear wheels from the engine. If you can't or don't, the car will minimally swap ends on you and if you were particularly egregious in your driving it could do it more than one time — just to remind you who is in control.

Not to say auto's are bad, they are not. You just have to remember about the rear end coming around to say hello when you'd rather it did not.
