Surprising Fuel Economy
So now ive got the drivetrain broken in for the most part with 1,500 miles on my new build I was surprise to learn at highway speeds about 65-70 my Ford 460 crate engine reached 13 mpg on a 350 mile round trip. It is of course set up for the street with vac advance on Duraspark ignition and uses a 800 cfm Edelbrock street carb right out of the box, ( not yet optimized). Ignition is set to avoid knock on 93 pump gas so its not really aggressive either. Motor runs at 2,100 rpm at 65 mph using the 3.25 street friendly gears. I was expecting 9-10 mpg. I imagine with fuel injection I could reach 15 mpg
