I had (2) roll up door curtain style leg protectors made.
* Top side is black leather.
* Bottom side is Kevlar fabric (good for 800F)
* Nomex padding sandwiched between leather and Kevlar
* Attach to carpet with sewn in Velcro.
* Rolls up between seat and door jam.
* Deploy with leather pull loop. (similar to PatrickT's photo)

Even with the engine running and pipes at full temp
you can lay your hand pressed against the black
leather top side onto the pipe without issue.
