Well, really nothing to do with Cobras. This is all about illegally importing foreign built vehicles into the US. It's really too bad that they spent all this time and energy on vehicles that aren't anything special. I mean, a Honda CRV? Geez, you can go down to the store and buy one of those. There are a few on the list that weren't US legal and due to their age MIGHT have been importable now, but maybe weren't when the event happened.

Not sure what they figured they were getting away with.

Too bad about some of those vehicles that have changed hands subsequent to the first time. It's highly 2nd and subsequent owners had no idea of the shenanigans involved - after all they had (at least on the face of it) a valid title. Maybe all they will have to do is go through the motions of a legal import paperwork.
