74th Gold Rush Parade is complete
Except for the freezing morning and windy all day, the parade was quite unique for all of us. John & Julie and I left near my home at 7am and arrived at Wickenburg Burger King about 7:50am. Fortunately we dressed warm. Bruce & Patty had been there earlier and proceeded to our pre parade place in line and reserved space for all of us. Scott & Louise picked up our Parade Number Flag earlier and joined us along with Jeff & Pat, both couples live in Wickenburg.
After a 2 hour wait, our place in line became obvious and with lots of left leg clutch work we follow a bunch of hair salon employees on foot behind a pickup truck for about a mile on Route 60, (Wickenburg Way.) At least we could travel 2 wide. LOTS and LOTS of people shouting for us to rev motors and do burn outs (not allowed,) so we did a lot of noise making.
When we got to the main, downtown part the people were like 12 deep for blocks with cheering, shouting, and clapping for us. Quite grateful for our attendance. Announcers repeated our arrival at many locations along the route. Parade took about 90 minutes of road apple swerving, then off to a friend of Scott & Louise who lives next to them with pavement all the way for a lunch of Brats, beans, chips & dips, etc.
Good time. Tough to tell who made more noise but my vote is John Evans.
Photo is our line up before parade started. Note the cowboy hats. Yes, I wore mine too.
