If you are using AN hardware, they have made it easy for you. AN X fittings, where "X" is the AN size you are using, will be compatible with and fit any AN fitting with the same "X" descriptor. It eliminates mismatches and leaks.

If you are assembling other than AN fittings to AN hardware it is not recommended because the AN fittings use an angular sealing surface to create the seal at the fitting(s). You will find there are JIC fittings that look like AN fittings. They are not interchangeable.

Both use an angular sealing surface methodology however, one uses a 37˚angle and one uses a 45˚angle. AN fittings are typically aluminum or steel and JIC fittings are frequently brass. Stick to major retailers like Jegs and Summit for your plumbing hardware and you will be OK.
