David,

Whoops! The car was my 1981 Zephyr wagon that sees road course action, not my Cobra so it was easier.

My Cobra had similar fits of stopping so it got converted to EFI about 20 years ago. That cured those problems just fine but it was early days of EFI so there were plenty of other misadventures with Holley's teething problems. After many upgrades it's doing OK now.

I didn't make the correlation until much later with the Zephyr. Plus I had one of the world's best carb guys helping so both of us thought we could whip it. Sadly, didn't happen.

Here's a possibly easier way to get good data: alcohol free gasoline. It's available in lots of stations here mainly for boats and the like. Should be available somewhere near you. If the problem goes away you have an answer. At the very least it should be a big improvement. Only possible fly in that ointment would be if your engine has too much compression for the no-alcohol stuff, say north of 11:1 or so.

On reflection, there's probably not an easy way to observe the fountains directly on a Cobra short of temporarily removing the hood and air cleaner...

Sorry for not thinking that one through!

Tom
