The 427 Hardtop Company ultimately proved to be a dead end. The piece was undersized, and there was little appetite for anything beyond what already existed. Disappointing, yes but in this sport, that is often how the proper path reveals itself.

Along the way, a few long-time enthusiasts quietly mentioned a man named Bruce. Not spoken of loudly, but with respect. A fabricator who shaped fiberglass by hand, not to trends or convenience, but to purpose. His work included the Cobra’s great American rival, the Cheetah not one, but eight complete bodies along with molds still in use today by several well-known Cobra builders.

Meeting him explained everything.

Bruce was precise, deeply experienced, and refreshingly direct. There were no sales pitches, no constraints, only an understanding of form, function, and intent. He was willing to build whatever the car required, not what was easiest to produce.

And perhaps most surprising of all, he was cut from distinctly American cloth, proof that craftsmanship of this level does not belong to any one country.

With that, the course was set.
The Classic Roadster Cobra will receive a hardtop designed specifically for it built to fit the car as intended, not forced to comply. The objective is simple and clear: complete the work, fit and finish resolved, in time for the Ohio Cobra Run, June 2026.

This will be done correctly. Thank you Mr. Bruce for your amazing work!
