So the removal of the lug nut/pins was indeed a challenge. First just setting up a breaker bar with a jack stand to properly position a 12mm hex bit - ending with it only turning inside the pin. Now the pins are mushroomed and I can't abandon the effort since the wheels can't be put back on. So I try Vice grips - they couldn't be tightened enough - just chewed up the pin as well. Then I started grinding flats spots to get a better grip but with no luck. Then a Dremel tool to start cutting slots in the pin so it could be split - again not helping with grip or loosening enough by splitting.

The secret - a pipe wrench. That with a 2ft. pipe on the handle as a breaker bar. We know a pipe wrench tightens as you torque it. Perfect solution. Got all 5 pins off and replaced in minutes. Can't believe I didn't think of this sooner. Stick that in your tool box.
