If on the brake line then it's an easy fix.
Mashing the peddle to get activation is a sign it's failing.

I replaced mine with Allstar ALL76251 (bullet connector)
You can also use Allstar ALL76252 (two wire screws)
Rated at 60-120 PSI and 4.5 amps.
