Proximity of header to footbox was a concern.

First, ceramic coat headers inside & out. This does wonders keeping the heat inside the exhaust, and out of your footwell.

Second, use double face aluminum padding instead of the non-aluminum faced jute padding. Was about $40/roll from Summit, and one roll was all needed for dash-to-firewall. Used single face aluminum for rest of padding. $20/roll Trak or Pep Boys. Lay carpet over padding.

Now you shouldn't need any air vents because the footbox doesn't get hot, or even warm.
