I have heard that in some circles of racing, if you want to be competative, you must lease a motor from the builder who's motors are winning all the races. You don't get to buy it, you must lease it with a "I will not take it apart and reverse engineer this motor" contract. Can't discover the proprietary secrets that are the difference between winning and not even qualifying.
