ComputerWorks: You are absolutely correct.
And now the HP issue is all clear, thank you 289Cobra.
But, I think it is a legitimate question to ask if the following (dated 7/8/2002 addressed to David Kee) has been resolved, perhaps offline:

I own ERA #561, built new in 1999 by Steve McKellar .. You built the tranny for him - I have a copy of the receipt dated 2/25/99 for $1695. I bought the car last summer and it now has only 3000 careful miles - never raced - never over 5000 RPM (afraid to hurt the $20000+ Sideoiler), and I NEVER sppedshift or any of that crap some guys do to abuse their cars. Anyway, when I shift from 1st to second and second to third now - I feel some "weird " stuff vibrating in the shift handle.... like synchros not engaging properly or something. And, sometimes when I engage the clutch in 1st it makes a brief squeeling noise.
Question - how long to you warrant your transmissions? Shouldn't it last more than 3000 miles - especially since it has had no abuse?
I'm looking for some help here - didn't think I was going to have to buy a new tranny after only 3000 miles........... I have a suspicion it won;t be long before I'm calling for a tow truck when it breaks.

There could be several things that may cause the symptoms you are describing. Clutch and shifter adjustment is critical and is most times the culprit when more than one gear is involved.
Do you know how many miles were put on the transmission before you purchased the car last summer?

In case 289Cobra continues with the p*ssing contest. I just want to reassure him that I'm only trying to get the clear facts about the car out there as there seems to have been some not-crystal-clear statements made in this thread about it.
I bow to those who seem to know this car personally and consider it a nice car.
If nothing else, my search turned up more confirmation of the babying 289Cobra has done to this car. The searches do bring up more questions though, like who owned it previously, how did they baby it and who exactly spent the $80K in receipts? But I officially sign-off on expecting any further answers to my questions and hereby declare my interest in this undoubtedly fine automobile to be satiated.
Thank you very much
