A couple of issues here. One of the problems is that if you don't use the phenolyic (sp) gaskets you run the chance of generating too much heat through the base of the carbs and the fuel boils into the carb on top of the throttle plate. We use these on Old Yeller and the carbs are warm to the touch ten minutes after the car is done racing. Also. the OEM needle seats are not the best design and I recommend using the G & D design which is a double ball design. Enzo put me on to these a few years ago. If you try both of those suggestions you may not need to run a return line. If you have an electric fuel pump, you might want to shut the pump off (if you have a switch on the dash) a block or two before you arrive home. This will deplete the amount of gas in the bowl and the fuel will not be in sufficient quantity to boil out through the carb bore.

If you want to run a return line, Richard Hudgins wrote a very good piece on CC as to how the line should be positioned in the tank so as to not aerate fuel. It was a very good analysis. Good luck.
