Wanna feel good about yourselves? It's easy (substitute your own data here): ask a Twentynothing the following "general knowledge" questions:
1. Who was Benedict Arnold and in which war did he fight (take it easy on 'em---don't ask "on which side?")
2. What are the "bracket-dates" (start-finish) of the Civil War?
3. Who was "FDR"?
4. Who was Charles Lindberg?
5. What are the bracket-dates of the Second World War?
Their attempted aswers will usually do THREE things in sequence:
First: you'll feel revolted, astounded, sad (for them), and then
Second: Extremely happy you're you------and not twenty-two years old (apologies to the younger CC members)..then....
Third: a great and growing fear for our beloved Republic...YIKES!!!
Concluding experiment: take two blank world maps (with national outlines--RandMac makes 'em) into a NURSING HOME. Find a reasonably alert gomer AND a twentynothing staff person (avoid nurses, they're smaht!)---NOW give each participant three hours to fill in as much as they can. Aw, f$#@ it, save the effort, you know the answer already....
