Dan,

Yes on the Hurst comp.+ as the way to go. Yes you can still get it. Also, save the shifter lever from the old Ford linkage, including the knob. You can get an adapter to mount it to the Hurst linkage. The adapter bolts to the side of the Hurst lower arm in place of the hurst lever and is bent at 90 degrees with bolt holes in the top for mounting the Ford lever. The adapter even has provision for angling the lever toward the driver, just like in originals. I think David Kee would be a good source for the adapter. If not, he'll certainly know where to send you.

BTW used this setup in my car with top loader and loved it!

Just remember the small shaft toploader was meant for small blocks not 460's with gobs of torque. Take it easy with the drag race starts and you'll be fine though.
