Al,
There are a copuple of possibilities. One is that the casting numbed is not clear on the 6 and it could be an 8 which would make the block a side oiler with hydraulic lifters. The other possibility is that it is a marine engine, drilled as a center oiler with hydraulic lifters. I have a pair of C5AE-H blocks I removed from a boat. These are side oiler, cross bolt blocks and are drilled as center oilers with hydraulic lifters.
